Position Description

During the preconstruction period, the Estimator will work with engineer’s and architect’s drawings to develop a complete list of all job costs, including labor, material, equipment, and specialty items necessary to complete a commercial construction project.  The Estimator will handle budgeting, scheduling and cost analysis during the preconstruction period and will interact regularly with preconstruction managers and subcontractors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Sills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:


Four-year civil engineering or construction science degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or experience.  Five + years’ experience estimating and cost control on commercial construction projects.  Knowledge of estimating techniques and cost control, plus ability to utilize state-of-the-art estimating tools (On-Screen Takeoff, Timberline, etc).  Ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing and good interpersonal skills.  Computer literate with experience MS Office and software a must.

Sills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

Performing this job will require use of hands to fingers with the ability to handle, or feel objects, sit, walk, talk and hear.  It will occasionally require employee to stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will work inside the headquarters office.  Employee must be able to pass pre-employment and random drug screens.

Travel may be required so employee should have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.  Occasional stays out-of-town is a possibility.
